A friend of mine likes jazz music a lot, and I would like to make a good jazz cd selection as a gift for their birthday. The store employees are not much help in this category. Can anyone suggest some nice jazz bands? Thank you.

I'm just getting into jazz
I'm just getting into jazz from that PBS special. Wow. Get your firend Coltaine's "My Favorite Things" I liked that from before I knew what jazz was. Coltraine, humms. I saw a video on the Newport Jazz Festival from the 50s or 60s. I fell over watching Felonius Monk and when Anita O'Day sang "Sweet Georgia Brown" I gawked, laughed and cheered. If you can get that video, like it was "Summer (something). That would be a present any jazz fan would melt to. Great film too.

Well I personall love Benny Goddman and Louis Armstrong. Glenn Miller Orchestra and Woody Herman. But Benny Goodman is the best. Like Sing,Sing, Sing(With a Swing) or Moonglow to King Porter Stomp. Hope I was helpful. Buh-Bai!! Ericka
